Antitrust Law

Campa Avvocati supports companies in all matters relating to antitrust law, at both the Italian and European levels.

Thanks to its presence in Rome and Brussels, and to the experience gained by its lawyers — with more than 50 cases argued before the General Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union concerning fines imposed by the European Commission’s DG COMP, as well as numerous proceedings before the Regional Administrative Court of Lazio (TAR Lazio) challenging decisions of the Italian Competition Authority — the firm’s Antitrust Team is able to assist companies both during investigation phases and in the appeal of any sanctioning measures. In particular, Mr. Massimo Moretto, Of Counsel to the Firm, has also spent several years representing the Legal Service and DG COMP of the European Commission in competition law litigation. A list of the competition law cases handled by him is available on the website of the Court of Justice of the European Union at the following link: curia.europa.eu

Also by virtue of this experience and its dual perspective — Italian and European — our Team is able to offer clients a more comprehensive approach, capable of leveraging, also at the domestic level, the expertise and experience developed in the European context, as well as all the possible national implications arising from the application of EU competition rules. Where necessary, the Team works in cooperation with specialised economists.

Antitrust Law in Italy and Europe

The Antitrust Team of Campa Avvocati provides legal advice and assistance in matters concerning cartels, anti-competitive agreements and leniency programmes, as well as restrictions and vertical agreements.

In order to prevent the risk of sanctions, which may also be very substantial, companies should implement an antitrust compliance policy, namely a review of internal processes and business practices in light of Italian and EU competition rules. Campa Avvocati’s Antitrust Team is able to provide advisory service through an assessment aimed at avoiding the risk of investigations or infringements (for example, in relation to cartels or anti-competitive agreements).
